My Mother's Day

My mother's day was pretty good. Yesterday Brandon gave me a bracelet, it's one of those rubbery ones, it says courage on it and it's different colors of brown and white. I love it, it matches most of my clothes that I wear, lol. Then Brandon & Kevin took me to Birmingham to the thrift stores. I found 2 carebears that I didn't have, everytime I go to that one store they usually have carebears that I don't have so I've been buying them and collecting them. I also got some books. Then we went to the other thrift store and I got some books there also. I had a nice time. It was a bit disappointing driving all that way, there wasn't very many books to choose from. The first store had very few, the other store had a little more but a lot of their books were in bad condition, nasty, bent up or tore up. But I did get 11 or 12 that I kept and then some that I posted on book mooch to trade.

Today we got up early and went to Kevin's mom's house. We cooked her and Lisa breakfast. We ate and talked and had a really nice time. We hung out there for a few hours. Then we left and I called my mom, I had already given her her gift. I got her 8 Dean Koontz books that she didn't have. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got a few things that we needed. We looked in the garden section for pond liners but they didn't have any. We came home and I had to lay down for awhile, I was so sleepy and felt bad. My sister came up to visit while she was visiting Daddy. It was nice seeing her, we looked at books and flowers. Then after they left, Kevin helped me, well he done most of the work, lol. He made a flower bed around my mimosa tree. I planted some caladiums and freesias around the tree. I hope it turns out pretty!! I have to go tomorrow and get some potting soil to finish filling it up with dirt. We need to make 2 more, one around my Japanese Tulip tree and one around my Dogwood tree. I still have at least 9 calla lilies to plant, 3 of 3 different colors. Not sure how we'll do the other 2 flower beds, but the area around the dogwood tree is hard to mow around so we'll probably make it kinda big so it can have rounded edges and I'll probably plants my calla lilies in it and most likely won't plant anything with the tulip tree. I can't wait til we get them done and everything comes up!!

WooHoo! My New Frige!!!

I LOVE my new refrigerator!! I've always wanted one like this, it has the freezer on the bottom. The best part is, I got it for about half off! They said it has a blemish but we couldn't find anything wrong with it. The freezer part isn't very big but we kept our other refrigerator too. Now if only we had food in it! lol

Highlights

I highlighted my hair but it turned a red/orange color. At first I didn't like it but I kinda like it now that the boldness has worn off. I love my do though!! I usually grieve when I cut my hair off but this time I didn't. I think I'm gonna keep this style for awhile.

Going on a Diet

I went to the doctor on Monday and got my lab results back. I have high cholesterol so I have to go on a diet, not to mention I've gained a ton of weight. So, I started dieting on Monday. I'm also keeping a food diary so I can keep track of what I'm eating and how much. If I don't get my cholesterol down I'll have to start taking meds for it and I can't afford to take anymore meds. I go back in 1 month, hopefully I'll have lost some weight by then.

I like it but it's time consuming. It took me about 45 minutes yesterday to blow dry it and then straighten it and then of course it still wants to curl in some places. But over all, I like it. It's so much softer and healthier looking with all the dried out, dead ends off of it.

Pitty Party...

Life has gotten me down in the past few weeks. I feel like I'm in a rut and can't get out. I don't know what to do about it. Now, I'm sick once again, yay me! It seems every time I turn around I'm sick with something. It's awful! I'm so tired, I don't want to do anything but sleep. I don't even want to read a book and that is very unusual for me! I made a 70 on my Micro test cause I just don't have the energy to study, let alone pay attention to what I'm doing. I hate getting crappy grades, it's just that much harder that I have to work to get my gpa back up. I don't know what to do about it. Hopefully when this semester ends next month, I'll begin to get better and stop being so sick all the time. There are so many things that I want to do, like get back into scrapbooking and card making, read some of the books on my shelf, go explore some new places, cook some really good things, get my craft room fixed up. I really really want to start exercising so I can maybe lose some weight but I just have no motovation what so ever to get up and do it! I have a learn to belly dance cd but I've not tried it yet, it might be pretty cool, lol. Yeah, a fat person belly dancing, soo sexy! (Not) I think i would like to join a gym, think I'll check into it!!

Snow in the South

We don't normally get snow here in the south but it snowed!! Yesterday morning Kevin woke me up to see it snowing, it was so pretty!! It was snowing hard for a long time and the wind was blowing so it gave it the blizzard effect!

Update

It's still cold here, I think it's like 21 degrees at the moment. I so can't wait for Spring!! School is going well, I have my first test this week, tomorrow actually. I'm not ready for it, I need to study some more. I think I'm getting sick again :0( All I want to do is sleep and my head has been hurting more the past couple of days. I work today and then I'm off til Tuesday, I'm going to catch up on some sleep and the laundry. Guess I'll use that time to catch up on my homework so I can stay ahead on it. Everything else is pretty much the same.

The Weather

OMGosh, it is SO cold here. It got down to like 6 degrees!! The high for today is 29. I know for some people that that isn't to bad but HELLO! We live int he south, it's supposed to be warm! We keep going from decently warm to freezing cold, back and forth. I can't believe they are making the kids go to school with the temps so low, normally they'll close school, for some reason they think it's ok to go today.

My Exciting Day In The Lab

I had class today, this semester is my last one before nursing school, hopefully I'll get accepted. Anyways, I'm taking microbiology. Last Tuesday we looked at sample tubes of different kinds of bacteria. We learned how to take the bacteria and make cultures, my bacteria was bacillus, she told us that we wouldn't get our own cultuers back because the class before us would use them. Today we got the cultures back to look at them, some how, don't know how, but I got my own culture back!! I was so excited to actually get to see my own and that I had actually grown bacillus!! We took the cultures and had to make slides with them. We stained them and all that, it was interesting. Then we got to look at our slides through the microscope. It was so awesome looking!! The staining process was long, all the die washed off of my slide, or so it seemed but the bacillus had turned a bright fushia color, it's was way cool! I think I'm going to really enjoy this class!! If you want to look it up and see what I seen, it's Bacillus cereus.

Starting Back to School...

I start back to school today, I can't say that I'm excited cause I'm not! I'm glad to be getting it done but... Micro is going to be a long class, 9:10-12:30. Hopefully we'll get a small break during this class. I'm going to try to go a little early this morning so I can get a good seat. This class should be interesting, we'll get to grow things like molds, bacteria, ect. I looked through my book here while back and it looks so complicated. Anyways, it should be interesting, if not it will be boring as hell!

Rain Rain Go Away...

It has been raining non~stop for hours and hours. I wish it would stop raining. It has been raining so hard and dropping tons of water. I'm afraid we'll need boats soon. The ditches and some parts of the roads were covered in water last night when I left work, almost 8 hours ago so I can imagine what it's like out there now. This one spot in the road was covered totally on the opposite side of the road on my way home, I got to that spot at the same time as an on coming truck, I had my window cracked, thank goodness it wasn't cracked much, that truck soaked mine, it was almost funny in away. I wish it were warmer so we could go out and play in the ditches!! This kind of weather makes me want to curl up with a warm binky and sleep all day!
